The Fertility Care™ Program (also see the FertilityCare website)
For those who are considering pregnancy or are trying to achieve pregnancy, we are happy to offer the "Fertility Care" program.

Fertility Care™ is the first contemporary, drugless fertility in-clinic treatment of it's kind that offers The Fertility Care™ Program, a comprehensive, individualized, naturopathic method for achieving successful fertility naturally.

The Fertility Care™ Program is the culmination of years of treating fertility here at Annapurna Naturopathic. The Program, based on a restorative, drugless model has demonstrated successful fertility and healthy pregnancy on its own, and in combination with assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF (in vitro fertilization) and IUI (intrauterine insemination).

The program is 24 weeks in duration and is offered either as an in-clinic or out-clinic format. The out-clinic format is available to those who live outside of Toronto (or outside Canada) as well as those unable to physically attend the clinic. Read more about Fertility Care™ on our Fertility page here.

The Fertility Care™ Program is to be followed up with our Conception Care™ Program, a separate program (see below) commencing once conception is achieved. Conception Care™ addresses all that follows during the entire pregnancy cycle and early postpartum periods.

The Conception Care Program (CCP)
Is a dedicated program for pregnant women. The program has been demonstrated to be extremely effective at easing many of the negative symptoms of pregnancy, including: morning sickness, reducing complications, as well as promoting a natural and health pregnancy.

Program duration is approximately five, one-hour visits throughout the pregnancy. More can be added to address specific complaints and/or needs. Your pregnancy is unique to you, and the Conception Care program is designed with your individual needs in mind.

Visit structure and brief description:

  1. Congratulations you’re pregnant! Book your first appointment when you first find out (4-6 weeks):
    • A discussion on choices. How to approach your pregnancy and what you need to know.
    • Topics covered: pregnancy and nutrition; foods, herbs and medicines to avoid; choosing your prenatal care (midwife, obstetrician, family doctor); dispelling common misconceptions; prenatal vitamins; and the ongoing role of naturopathy in pregnancy.

  2. Your First Trimester: How are you feeling? (8-10 weeks):
    • Discussion of common (and not so common) symptoms encountered in the first trimester. Common symptoms include: fatigue, nausea, indigestion, constipation, stress management, anxiety or sleeplessness. Discussion of naturopathic support options to ease (or eliminate) some or all of these complaints. Naturopathic alternatives to allopathic medicines.

  3. Second trimester: Congratulations, you’re feeling better! (14-18 weeks):
    • Now that the symptoms of first trimester are behind you, this is the time to focus on nutrition. As your weight is increasing rapidly, you will require support in key areas including optimal exercise in pregnancy, stress management, iron levels and thyroid function.
    • A critical discussion on the importance of prevention of common 3rd trimester complications such as gestational diabetes and high blood pressure (pre-eclampsia).
    • Discussion on resources for prenatal classes or other labor support.

  4. Early third trimester: Preparing for Delivery (24-28 weeks):
    • It’s almost time for your baby to arrive, and there are things you need to know.
    • Discussion on optimizing nutrition (optimum weight gain, diabetes prevention, nutrition for baby’s health), importance and type of exercise (efficiency and duration of labor, minimized back pain, cardiovascular health), and supplement support (baby’s brain development, prevention of allergies, and labor support).
    • Counseling: postpartum period - ensuring there is adequate support for the mother during the first month. Counseling on factors affecting postpartum depression and means of prevention. What you need to know: physiological factors (thyroid), family support and support groups, naturopathic care (homeopathy, supplements, counseling).

  5. Late third trimester: It’s Almost Time - Preparation for Labor (around 36 weeks):
    • Critical issues (common and uncommon): group B strep (a vaginal bacteria) and treatment options; pain management in labor; post-date pregnancy (what to do if you go beyond your due date) and avoiding inductions; fatigue and back pain.
    • Discussion on post-natal health (mother and baby): nutrition, supplements, breast feeding resources (lactation consultant if needed), and naturopathic baby care (vaccine consultation, food introduction, immune system support, prevention of allergies).

With the increasing medicalization of pregnancy, this program is intended to support you and your unborn baby through this natural process in the healthiest way possible: to promote a pregnancy free of complications, an efficient labor and a successful delivery.

If you are already pregnant, you can jump into this program at any point, just call or email to book your next prenatal appointment!
