TREATMENT MODALITIES

Clinical Nutrition
Clinical nutrition includes diet, supplements, minerals and nutrients to optimize health. The starting point of any treatment plan typically begins with a nutritional analysis and dietary changes. Changes in diet may include food intolerances, suggestions to maintain blood sugar balance, specific foods to include for various health conditions, or integrated plans for weight management.

Homeopathic Medicine
A therapeutic system of medicine based on the principle of similars (like cures like), homeopathy aids and stimulates the body's inherent healing processes. It was established approximately 200 years ago by a German physician called Samuel Hahneman, and is recognized by the World Health Organization as the second largest therapeutic system in the world. Homeopathic medicine is often used in treatment plans at Annapurna Naturopathic, especially with condition such as migraine headaches, endometriosis, fertility, and children's health.

Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of treatment that views health as the balance within an individual's energy channel, or qi. Acupuncturists help qi move along pathways, known as meridians that connect various organs and systems within the body. The uninterrupted and balanced flow of energy along these meridians contributes to one's overall health. Blockages or imbalances result in pain and illness. A qualified experienced acupuncturist inserts very fine, sterile needles at specific acupuncture points along the meridians to effect the flow of energy. Acupuncture is at times combined with herbal medicine to optimize results.

Botanical Medicine
Botanical medicine is the therapeutic use of plants to facilitate treatment. Herbs may be administered in many forms, including teas, tinctures, salves, poultices, capsules, volatile oils, infusions, and decoctions. A single herb or a combination of several herbs may be prescribed depending on condition.

Lifestyle Counseling
Lifestyle counseling encompasses all of the day to day ways that we protect our health and nourish ourselves. This includes exercise, stress reduction, mindfullness meditation, visualization, healthy communication, and the environment in which we live - all of the aspects that make up a healthy, happy, balanced life.
